Slack
Slack is how most people talk to Dave, and it has the most access control of any integration.
Connect
Section titled “Connect”-
In Dave, go to Integrations → Add integration → Slack. A popup opens on Slack.
-
Check the workspace in the switcher if you are signed into several.
-
Approve the install. Many workspaces restrict this to admins, in which case your approval becomes a request.
-
In Slack,
/invite @Daveto any private channels you want it in. Public channels do not need this. -
Back in Dave, approve the channels under Channel access. Installing alone puts Dave nowhere — nothing is live until you approve something.
Channel access
Section titled “Channel access”Channels move through an explicit approval workflow:
| List | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Available channels | Visible to Dave, but not authorized. |
| Pending approval | Added but not usable — shown as Needs approval. |
| Approved channels | Authorized and live. |
Add a channel from Available channels, then Approve it. Revoke removes the authorization. Refresh re-pulls the list from Slack.
Dave cannot discover private channels — invite it in Slack first.
Direct messages
Section titled “Direct messages”| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| Off | Nobody can DM Dave. Mentions in approved channels keep working. |
| Approved channel members (recommended) | Your team in Dave, plus anyone in a channel you have approved. |
| Everyone in your workspace | Anyone in your Slack workspace with a company email. |
People outside your company email domain are never added to your team automatically.
